• Hi All

I tried to install WP 3.9 via quickinstall in the Hostgator Cpanel and I still get an error message saying the site doesn’t exist everytime I try.

I understand it can take up to 72 hours to propogate but I waited 7 days and have recently tried to uninstall and reinstall it.

Is there anything I’m missing or any further steps I can take? I have written to Hostgator who have confirmed that the domain name is registered and everything.

    Thanks

72 hours no longer needed with Cloud DNS. Previously many things needed to be checked, now all are done via API.
Use free CloudFlare account to make the DNS propagation faster. 7 days waiting is rare for NS propagation and points towards some error. Check config in NS panel of the domain register’s account. If Apache2 server is configured properly for vHost (on HostGator) it would be very fast.

Use better host – HP cloud, Rackspace, Amazon, Server Beach, DigitalOcean or free PaaS – Heroku, Red Hat OpenShift with own datacenters, according to your budget. They will give you the best performance too. Cost are becoming closer and quite affordable. All at least offers a dev account or give off on Twitter or some free tier forever. All are prominent brands.

according to my hostgator billing account my domain name is locked. Is this common??? It says it can take up to 60 days to be unlocked.

    On newly-registered TLD domains, yes.

Yes, it is only for new register domain …

There is a 60 day period after registering a domain name during which you will be unable to transfer domain registration. This is not a HostGator specific rule, but rather a rule implemented by ICANN, the organization that governs domain registrations.

The domain will be locked for transfers for 60 days – you can still use it on your site and point it at another host if you wish.

Guys I am incredibly confused. I am not trying to transfer the domain I just want to build my website…..

I have installed wordpress and it has been over a week since I did it and I still cannot access my website. I installed it via quickinstall on hostgator cpanel and I don’t know how to fix this.
