I just did a clean install of WordPress 3.9 on my GoDaddy hosting plan running on PHP 5.3 and MySQL 5.5. When I try and access the admin to make edits, anything that accesses the jQuery functions in the controls errors out because “jQuery is not defined on load-scripts.php line 1”.

Has anyone had this issue or know why this might be happening with a clean install? I have no plugins or themes installed at all (except the defaults) and I have not customized anything yet. I’m sure I can manually load jQuery to remedy the issue, but it seems like it should work right out of the box…unless I’m doing something wrong. Haven’t had this issue before with past installs.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Wil

It should. The immediate factor that comes to mind is… GoDaddy. Seriously, we’ve seen a lot of issues recently caused by GD’s servers that they have initially blamed on WP. Just to rule out anything else, try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Yes, that did the trick. I kept re-installing the wordpress that I can downloaded earlier and the problem still persisted. Once I re-downloaded the wordpress zip and did a clean upload everything worked fine.

    Thanks!
