I am wondering if anyone here has had any issues with WordPress 3.6 stalling once auto save starts its job? Something happened when I upgraded where the auto save is creating issues. Either WordPress slows down significantly or just freezes. If anyone has had this issue, where you able to resolve it….and how? Thanks.

  • I realize your post it a couple weeks old, but that’s about how long I have been fighting the same issue with my web hosting. They appear to be idiots unfortunately.

When a new post starts auto-saving, it causes my connection to my host to be blocked. I can still access FTP, but HTTP is blocked. This block doesn’t just affect WordPress as I can’t even access a simple HTML file on the host (not WP related). After about 20 minutes, I can access my site again. Looking at the server logs, I am not getting to the web server. It looks like a security measure on my web host (myhosting.com). I can still access my site from a different IP address when the block is in place (I remote into my work location and the site responds from there).

At this point, I’ve given up on my web hosting ever figuring this out and I’m just going to change web hosting when my contract runs out with them.

If I could just disable auto-saving of draft posts, then maybe the problem wouldn’t get triggered in the first place.

I feel your pain, just got it resolved. My host fixed my DNS?? Not sure if I remember correctly (I think DNS), but now it seems okay. But, it is very frustrating, and I am sorry you have to deal with this. I hope it gets resolved. Best of luck.

My autosave function hangs and save the button becomes inactive. In order to save, I have to copy the changes I made, reload the editor in my browser, paste the changes into the editor and then save. I have deactivated all my plugins and I have tried with multiple browsers, but the issue still persists.

As I played around with it, I noticed the “published on” date and time are showing a date from two weeks ago. However, if I browse revisions, the correct date shows for each revision.

Also, the media uploader won’t upload pictures into the page/post. Using my FTP program I checked the uploads folder on my server and I found the files are being uploaded to the wrong folder. They should be uploading to the 11 (november) folder, but instead they are uploading to the 10 (october) folder. Also, the files uploading to the 10 (october) folder show as being uploaded on November 6 which is the correct date.

Somehow, I am thinking these glitches are all related. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance.

You are providing a lot of good information and hopefully one of the developers will use it and look into the issue. I had to modify the source code in order to turn of autosaves. After I did that, the issue went away. I just need to remember to save often.

Further info: it wasn’t any of my plugins or my theme. That doesn’t eliminate a few possibilities, but it never impacted the lock-ups.
