WordPress 3.5 Unable to Switch Visual to Text (14 posts)

Hello experts, Please help me urgently. While editing posts, I am not able to switch from Visual mode to Text mode (earlier version it was HTML). Additionally in Tags box, I am not able to add tags either new ones or "Choose from the most used tags". Click on "Choose from the most used tags" results nothing.

Switching between the two modes of editors usually cause problems. Use any one of them at a time.

Hello Volunteers, I followed instruction at http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors

    By turning on script debugging solved the issue. But when I turn it off, issues persists. define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);

    Should I keep debugging on?

Keep it on for the time being. Possibly, the trouble was caused by a plugin or theme. Once their devs update their works, you can remove it. Anyway, that is the solution for now, it seems.

I seem to be having the same problem and the script debug == true worked for me as well. Is there a formal process to submit the error to?

Only difference is I am in text and was unable to switch to visual when script debug was false.

Hi, I am having the same problem:

"not able to add tags either new ones or "Choose from the most used tags". Click on "Choose from the most used tags" results nothing."

Turning on SCRIPT_DEBUG did not solve the issue.

Does anyone know how to fix this or how to further debug?

Thank you! I hope to be a WP expert one day and with your help I may be able to do that so thank you in advance for reading this and offering any help!

I'm having the opposite problem. I'm in text mode and can't switch to visual!

Per the forum guidelines, please start your own threads. The forums work better when only one person is being helped per thread and you'll get faster help too.

If you are having problems after the WP3.5 update, please read this to start finding the problem with your site:

Hi WPyogi... thanks for the swift reply! I don't really understand the reason for starting a new thread when I have the same problem - other forums have the opposite approach "don't create new threads for the same problem" but, ok, maybe it's a different cause.

anyhow, i found out a hack to get my tags to work again, but it's not pretty. i'll post in another thread to get more help to avoid my hack.

    thanks!

Yep, some forums do work that way, but here we generally don't. This is partly because your issue is not really the same unless you have an identical situation -- i.e. same theme, same plug-ins, same server, etc. Any number of things can cause problems so what might solve yours would not necessarily solve someone else's even if you have the same symptoms.

You also get help faster when you start a new thread -- as helpers here tend to answer new (unanswered) threads first.

Ok! Thanks for the detail on the way the WP forums work - makes sense to try to parallelize everything since there are so many variations.

Here is my other post with the hack solution:

I used the link that WPYogi above posted http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-35-master-list?replies=4
It showed me that the Theme Arjuna was what was breaking my site. See http://wordpress.org/support/topic/arjuna-x-breaks-wordpress-35/page/2?replies=44#post-3708545 if you're using Arjuna for a fix.

How do I disallow comments? After I changed my password (GoDaddy) two months ago, it's been a flood of spam comments, dozens came in even minutes after I put in the news password.
