• Hello,

    I updated wordpress to 3.5 from Dashboard due to update notification. Update confirmation was ok.
    After this update the slide picture from main page was gone, widget area from Dashboard was crashed (cannot be drag it anymore), I’am sure other issues occurred but I immediately contacted hosting company to restore my old database/site and things went back to normal with old version. I disable it updates. Now I wonder why this happened and what should I so in order to update my wordpress to last version.

    Thank you

  • same problems, did they just overwrite files with wordpress 3.4?? and leave database in tact?

    I cant post images either howw do you go back to 3.4 ?

    These are issues commonly caused by plugins/themes after the upgrade to WP 3.5. There are no known issues with barebones 3.5 usage.

    I would suggest deactivate ALL plugins… manually clearing your browser cache.. and trying again.

    If that doesn’t work… try switching back to the default theme… manually refresh your browser cache.. and try again.

    It is very likely one of these solutions will solve the issue.

    Well , I contacted hosting company and they restored ALL file together with database from the last backup which was few hours before I made the update. That way my wordpress went back to 3.4.2 .

    I will try what you say Josh. Thank you.

    I also had big problems with updating to 3.5. When I go to edit a page the edit box is blank. I can view page but there is nothing in the edit box. I hate updates, invariably there is some bug.

    Same problem here, but fixed it by doing the following

    Deleted cache (Google Chrome)

    Deactivated all plugins
    Reactivated them 1 at a time (refreshed site each time)

    Found that this plugin was the problem
    CKEditor for WordPress Version 3.6.3

    Thanks Dave. As I stated… it’s usually always an incompatible plugin.

    In regards to an alternative… do check out my Ultimate Tinymce. I’m open to any suggestions you have have for it’s improvement…

    Tried the above with no results. The edit box is still blank. Is there a way to get back to 3.4.2 before the update?

    Yes there is, Boogiedog. Search “downgrade” or “downgrading” to find on the forums how to do it.

    You may also try, just in case, adding
    define(‘SCRIPT_DEBUG’, true);
    and/or
    define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false );
    to your wp-config.php file : it solved other unsolved bugs that came up with WP 3.5.

    Trying it takes 20 seconds, as opposed to downgrading that would take a full hour at the very least, if you’re new to it.

    Unfortunately none of the posted solution work for my theme. The widgets cant be draged. If I change the theme it work.

    Then it’s a theme issue. Where did you download the theme from?

    News Flash! You say that being unable to edit is a Theme problem … well the same situation exists with Twelve Twenty the page edit box is still blank. My website still reflects the last change. Also, while in the edit page if I click view page I get my last edit.

    I need better answers that spending an entire day charging windmills.

    Boogiedog,

    Hi, I am having an issue, too, in Google Chrome and Explorer, since updating, but not the same as others have mentioned. Can you tell me if I will have to deactivate all my plugins to try to fix, or if it’s something else? Here is the error message that pops up on top of every one of my pages:

    Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /home/content/m/a/r/markelh111/html/thebullbustercafe/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-edit/wp-super-edit.core.class.php on line 114 and defined in /home/content/m/a/r/markelh111/html/thebullbustercafe/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 990

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/m/a/r/markelh111/html/thebullbustercafe/wp-includes/wp-db.php:990) in /home/content/m/a/r/markelh111/html/thebullbustercafe/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 876

    How silly, I figured out that “wp super edit” is right in front of my face in the error code – deactivating it fixed the issue! Thanks anyways
