• hi all, ive tried many variations of the question in hopes of finding an answer either on google on through the docs/forum here and ive had no luck – -so apologies if the answer is out there and ive missed it…..

Ok – im developing a site locally and i want to edit what is displayed in the meta widget that sits on the right, here is a list of things i want to do:
    1. change its name so that instead of “meta”, its called “options”
    2. remove some of the items displayed there, for example i dont want to see and RSS feed links

i know how to find the widgets.php file but its massive and i have to say a little confusing to look through

    help is greatly appreciated

  • No! Never, ever, edit WordPress core scripts. And do not encourage others to do so. Editing core scripts can bring down your entire site and/or open security holes for hackers to use when your site is online.

If you don’t want all of the links in that widget, you’ll have to add the ones you do want manually using theme template tags.
