[resolved] WordPress 3.2.1 Breaks Post Previews and Content on Single Pages (17 posts)

    Hi, I am having a terrible issue after updating from 3.2 to 3.2.1. New posts and pages do not show the content. The weird part is the photo from the post/page is displayed, but no text or comments section.

    If you look at the source code, the content (text) is all displayed in the meta description, but not on the website itself.

    For example: http://www.appleiphonereview.com/comment-policy/

    I have a backup of the database, but not the core files.

    Thanks for your help as always.

    Chris

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Check to see if you have this line of code in your CSS. I was completely vexed with the same problem on some sites, but not others. Commenting out or removing this code fixed the problem!

    div.entry-content.clearfix {
    display : none; }

    Thanks for your replies.

    Deactivating all plugins does not solve the problem.

    And interestingly, I have the same issue (no content in previews or new posts) on the Twenty Eleven theme.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

    Can we see your site using the Twenty Eleven theme?

    I don't want to change the theme for an extended period, as I have visitors entering the site, but here are a couple of screenshots.

    The first one with the regular theme, but missing the sidebar and all content:

    The second with the Twenty Eleven theme, missing content:

    Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated.

    Note the post image is present in both, just no text. Strange.

    I'm afraid screenshots are no good.

    Ok, no problem. I will switch the theme for the next five minutes. Thank you!

    Are all plugins also deactivated?

    Deactivated now.

  13. You have bad HTML on that page:

    <p><img src="http://www.appleiphonereview.com/images/soapbox.jpg" alt="Commenter on a Soap Box" align="right /></p>
    <p>In response to some recent mean-spirited, I have decided to write this Comment Policy to clarify basic etiquette that I expect from comments at AppleiPhoneReview.com. </p>

    See what's wrong there with the align="right /> bit?

    I'm speaking of THIS page: http://www.appleiphonereview.com/comment-policy/ to be clear :)

    It's not a theme issue. Still could be a bad plugin. Try resetting the plugins folder by PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    @Ipstenu Thank you so much, that was exactly the problem. I can't believe I missed that.

    Many thanks to you both!

    I'm speaking of THIS page

    Spotted that too but assumed that there was supposed to be real content on http://www.appleiphonereview.com/?p=6947. Also noticed that a lot of the Page links point to http://www.appleiphonereview.com/ which - in a few cases - then breaks down with an error.

  17. No, it's not a theme issue, at all, that's true :) But sometimes bad HTML break themes in spectacular new ways ;)
