    If you want to give other users the choice of using the admin bar or not, you can let them turn it off in their profile if they don't care for it. If you are a single user, and want a plugin you can turn on and off, this plugin works well.

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/disable-admin-bar/installation/

    If you want to remove it for everyone, permanently, create a directory inside /wp-content named mu-plugins, and place the above plugin file inside of it. Problem solved.

    The readme file inside the plugin directory contains instructions.

    "Disable the Admin Bar.

    == Description ==

    Disable the Admin Bar that now appears on the public side of WordPress blogs.

    For a hassle free integration, drop the plugin file into wp-content/mu-plugins (create the directory if needed) and it will be automatically activated."

    Works like a charm.

    hey Smelual B, your comment actual put a smile on my face for the time first time today..

    been a bad day, My host (justhost) was down for 3 days last month, and even though they provided support during the whole file restoration I have one site that just wouldnt get back to normal.

    Could not access /wp-admin so I deleted the plugins, but that wasnt enough. seems the MySql data was causing problems. So I deleted tables and settings, Still not enough. So I started from square one.

    Using fantastico 3.1 was installed. and I noticed the admin bar was all "scrambled" up in my themes header.
    the theme is not that complex, but it was enough to make the admin bar useless, and in the way..

    lets not join the others and follow in the footsteps of microsoft by adding more useless (bells and whistles) features when there are important security and other issues which deserve attention.

    WordPress is a great thing, lets keep it that way.
