[resolved] WordPress 3.0 Problem About Adding Image To My Post (18 posts)

    Hello everyone,

I need some help because I just updated my wp from 2.9.2 to 3.0 version yesterday. Everything seems to be fine. But when I wrote a new post and added an image to my post, I see that it now redirects to a new window and after I have selected my image file and clicked the insert it to post, my page redirects to a blank page. So what I did was click the back button and have to click the save all changes and it again redirects to a blank page.....

But when I hit publish, the image is inserted in my post. Some kinda weird here. Can anyone help me about this problem? Because when I was using the 2.9.2 version, everything was a breeze.

Thanks and have a great day.

    Have you disabled javascript?

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    - re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    - increasing the available memory?

I just updated my wp version and didnt do anything. Does this have anything to do with my plug in?

esmi advises diabling all plugins etc above, this is because plugins have been known to cause issues.

then activate it all at once after disabling it?

No! Activate the plugins one-at-a-time and check the image insertion after each re-activation. Be prepared for the issue to re-appear when you activate the problematic plugin - at which point you should delete the plugin and look for an alternative.

deactivate all plugins.... test your images. If they work, then a plugin is at fault. Turn one plugin on at a time testing image uploads between each plugin. That way you can find out which plugin is causing the problems.

If you turn off all plugins, and images still don't work, then its not plugins.....try the other things @esmi recommended

If I disable all plug ins, will it not mess up and will have to set up again?

If I choose to go bak to version 2.9.2 is it safe and no security issues?

Depends on the plugin, most should keep their settings for you.

Do a database backup first to be sure.

Going back to 2.9.2 - I wouldn't recommend it but did you do a database backup prior to upgrading?

If I disable all plug ins, will it not mess up and will have to set up again?

Most plugins should retain their settings but you may want to make a note of some of the more complex settings or grab a screenshot of their config pages (which is what I normally do).

Rolling back is risky because of the database changes. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

When I upgraded i could not post images, when i published a post I could not make it sticky, and to add a new post i would have to click on post and be taken to edit post menu for add new post option to drop down. I am using Headspace 2 and will deactivate it and although i hope that works i will miss it.

Had exact same problem. Searched everywhere for answer and did everything I could think of with no luck.

Have already wasted hours troubleshooting and inserting/resizing post by hand.

Finally so disgusted, that I couldn't take it any more I searched Google more specifically found this thread and did exactly what was suggested, disabled all plugins.

    Image pop up was back!

Then activated plugins 1 by 1 (I have a bunch) holding my breath each time because in my mind, each plugin is essential to my operating protocol. 1 by 1 my essential plugins checked out, then I started to feel annoyed that one of the few of my non essential plugins, that I probably don't even use, had thrown such a wrench in my operation.

1 by 1 each plugin checked out.

Until I got to the bottom on the list. When I found the offending culprit, it made perfect sense. Even before I had know clue, I knew my broken post admin page was for want of a javascript file, but I didn't know from where or where it went and why.

"Use Google Libraries" by Jason Penney was the perpetrator.

Apparently, it takes WordPress' own Ajax Library offline to use Google's, but for whatever reason, in WP 3.0, it's not using Googles so your just stuck.

There were other symptoms too...like not being able to toggle between the HTML and the Rich Text Editor tabs in Post Edit (was having to set and reset HTML editor in my profile)

Boy am I glad to be back on track with my image uploads and my WYSWIG!

And I'm so thankful for the advice hear on this thread.
