• I just downloaded wordpress TWICE from the homepage and uploaded it to my server. I’ve been on online chat with my server all morning cursing them out because a fresh setup was infected with spyware.

Here’s a quick video as to what I’m seeing. I just uploaded a fresh download of wordpress 3.0 from the homepage and it’s trying to redirect me to some spyware site.

  • open up the index.php file from the fresh download and the file from the server you just uploaded to and see if there are any differences in code as i can confirm the fresh download is definetely not the issue…

Is this stopping your wordpress application from running /installing?

Perhaps the spyware was present in a previous index.php on that site?

IIANM, that malicious site warning comes from a third party, which then causes your browser to block it? Perhaps it was due to a previous installation?

Also, check your .htaccess files. They’re the usual suspect in most malicious redirect cases.
