    @michaelhj,

    That's what normally happens during an upgrade - certain core files get upgraded - it's what upgrades are all about.

    That's exactly why its good habit to keep a log of applied changes so that when one does upgrade(core or theme) - one then re-applies these mods.

    You could always restore the backup you ran before the upgrade. You did a backup didn't you?

    Many thanks for your reply.
    I am a rank beginner at this.
    Ooops! No I didn't take a backup, so will have to re-set my permissions and paste the script back in. Do you know what the phrase "comments are closed" on the home page means and how can I get rid of it? Cannot see it in the page template!

    @michaelhj,

    A stab in the dark here.

    Edit the page you have setup as home page. Towards the bottom of the "Edit Page" panel you should see a box that will allow you to enable/disable comments. Untick this box to turn commenting off.

    Let us know how you go.

    Many thanks again. That works. I now have a comment box on the home page that wasn't there before but I think I can adjust this through the template. Will make sure I take a backup before I upgrade or make any major changes in future!!
