[resolved] WordPress 2.8.6 Permalinks problem (7 posts)

    Hi there,

Usually I don't have problems with the custom permalinks (type: /%postname%/ in your settings).
But somehow after I typed and updated the page, it says "You should update your .htaccess now"

Any ideas of what to update?

    Thanks

Sorry to state the obvious but your .htaccess file. It should be in the root folder of your WP installation

    What I meant was:

What to update inside .htaccess file?

When you set up custom permalinks, WP will have given you code to paste into your .htaccess file. Just make sure you use a plain text editor to make the changes and upload the amended file via FTP using ASCII mode. Or alternatively, make your .htaccess file writeable and WP will do all the work for you.

.htaccess is writeable and wp is updating it but permalinks is broken with upgrade to 2.8.6.

    Any help?

    Found it!

Have not updated apache only wp to 2.8.6, and older wp versions running on other sites hosted on same box aren't broken.

But, when I made this change it fixed it:

    edited httpd.conf:
    AllowOverride All
