I'd like to see a "last updated" note next to the version so we can know when was the last we did an update to our WordPress 2.7. I think it's a good idea. Since there's no real way of telling, we click upgrade and it always says "There is a new version of WordPress available for upgrade" even though it's the same version that's already installed :)

Maybe I was wrong, but I though wordpress 2.7 was being released along with wordpress.com ?

WordPress.com was supposed to have been upgraded this evening (I haven't checked) but self-hosted blogs will have to wait a little as 2.7 is still being put through some rigorous testing. One of the features currently being tested is the theme auto-upgrade.

I knew I missing something.

But would it be included? I don't know if the wordpress trac team have looked into this little feature. I mean, how hard can it really be? I know I should be talking but it seems like a simple procedure to include.

When upgrading via the internal FTP option, I get:
Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.7.zip
Download failed.: Could not create Temporary file
Installation Failed
it would be good if the script indicated the directory it is trying to write the temp file to + maybe it should check if the dir is writable before the FTP input is requested?
