   This guide shows you how to create your .htaccess file and properly enable php5 on a 1and1.com hosted server.

   Installing WordPress is typically a very simply task. Though when you install WordPress on a 1and1.com server, you will encounter various problems. I created a DIY that supplements the installation guide found on the WordPress.org website.

   If you are installing WordPress on a 1and1.com server you will need both the installation guide from the WordPress.org website as well as my DIY to supplement the installation.

   Generally speaking, we don't like self-advertisement on the forums. Epsecially since your DIY guide for .htaccess tells something this small:

   Put this at the TOP of your .htaccess:
   

   #enable php5
   AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

   It would be far better if you just helped people rather than pimp your site :)

   I do apologize but there is more than just adding code to the top of the .htaccess file. 1and1 servers are a little tricky.
