Hello there. I currently have a wordpress install version 1.0. I need to update it to the latest stable 2.5.1. Is it true that I need to go through each sequential update to get my blog up to date, or is there a file out there which will update 1.0 to 2.5.1?
I checked out the FAQ as well as a search on these forums and did not find an answer.

wow 1.0 that is old school. I tried using 1.5 to 2.5, without any problems.
I'd go:
1.0 > 1.2.2 > 1.5.x.x > ... 2.5 (if Gamerz says so).
Make a database backup before every step!
Be prepared that your "template and stylesheet" will not work in 1.5 - you will need to transform it into a theme.
I'd use the default theme during all those upgrades. Make sure that you get the final version of it at the end (lots of templatetags deprecated lately)
All plugins deactivated... the usual drill.

I have tried 3 similar installations of WP1.5 DB to WP2.5 without any problems, my laptop, my desktop and my host.
