WordPress & Gallery please work together

    It seems to me that the archetypal personal website is one incorporating the ability to express personal thoughts in a writing or photography format. Several softwares are available to achieve this end. However, in a standalone fashion. I feel that it would be a great development, if a product were available which integrated all such features into one personal publishing system.

    The wordpress and gallery teams have done a wonderful job in producing there respective products. So much so, I am inspired to ask: “would it be possible for them to join forces to produce such a system?� An integrated version. One which allows: one style, one expression, but two teams? Of course, this would be aside from their standalone development.

    Reading the support site of both products, you can find many such questions. I thought it time to ask it up front. In the spirit of openness, please try!

    personally i believe that lots of products could work together… without the need to really join the forces, i explain u better:

    i think that it’s possible to integrate one software functionality in another by modifying or adding some interfaces.

    in example. if u have both gallery and wordpress, it would be nice to be able to browse the pictures of gallery when you r writing a post in WP, in order to add a picture to the post.

    there is already a plugin, which lets you add pictures from gallery, but it’s very basic…

    let’s say you add a WYSIWYG editor like TinyMCE (that i recently added o my WP installation). it would be nice to have a button to browse pictures from gallery, click and add them.

    this could be achieved by creatign an interface to be added to the TinyMCE plugin.

    So you see that at the end you can integrate one program functionality in another but you need to code an interface to access the other applicatino database or filesystem. Gallery is using a strange database to manage the files… Gallery2 will be easier, as it’s using mysql…

    Well, just some thoughts…

    Ibis :: I’m trying to figure out if you sound speak more like Yoda or like a Harvard professor. 🙂

    There are great solutions, including Gallery2. I use FAlbum (my images on are on Flickr) and it works great… you can see it here.
