    Hi there. I've just attempted to upgrade from 2.9 to 3.0 and got the following error:

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare delete_usermeta()

    The WP section of my site has completely failed, can't get into admin now.
    Any ideas would be very much appreciated

    Thanks

    Alan

    Please try a manual upgrade. It appears your automatic upgrade didn't finish.

    Many thanks will do. I meant to include the complete error which is:

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare delete_usermeta() (previously declared in /home/u04alan/public_html/blog/wp-includes/user.php:300) in /home/u04alan/public_html/blog/wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 2305

    Does that help any?

    many thanks

    Looks like wp-includes/user.php wasn't updated. The manual upgrade should update any files that the auto-upgrader failed to copy over.

    I've got the same problem. How do I do a manual upgrade when I can't access my blog. I have c-panel.

  6. Gotgordy,

    Follow these instructions to manually upgrade your WordPress installation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress

    You will need to do this via FTP

    Thanks c3mdigital, I'll give it a try.
    Does it mess with my custom template settings?

    OK, I see it won't as long as you don't overite the "wp-content" directory.

    Problem solved. My 'user.php' file was missing over 500 lines of code, so I downloaded 3.0, unzipped it, opened 'user.php' (located in 'wp-includes') opened it in Notepad++ and copied and pasted in the missing code to the user.php file at my website.
