Thanks for posting! I forwarded this over to Mark for him to look at.
To clarify, are all your sites running on the release candidate versions of WordPress? Just want to be sure I’m passing on the right information.
Thanks!

Hi Tim,
Thanks for fast reply. My two active sites are still running in WP 3.9.2 and I have not updated WF to the new version. I don’t use the Slider Revolution plug-in so am happy to wait.
WP is now at WP4.0-RC3 an release of WP 4.0 is imminent so I thought this feedback may be important.
Feedback is always important, valued, and highly appreciated!
I know that officially, we don’t support release candidates, and we always are fully compatible with any new WordPress version when it goes to production, as we will be when 4.0 is released.
Like I mentioned earlier, I sent in your comments to Mark to let him know.
I’m running 3.9.2 but am not updating until I get off work later

I kept trying and my last attempt over a period of about six hours was successful and the plug-in appeared to run normally.
Oh great! Thanks for the update. Did you have to do something to get it to work normally?

Tim,
Difficult to say what happened. I was running off and on in WP_DEBUG mode because of issues with other plug-ins. Some were deactivated and then activated again and there could have been an issue with another plug-in. When it finally ran, the activated plug-ins were the same as had been running previously.

Epilogue.
Today my sites and test site are all running on the newly released WP 4.0 and all have the latest issue of WordFence running as it should.
I now realise what had happened on my test site yesterday. On this site I keep all the WP themes from Twenty Ten to Twenty Fourteen. During the issue of the WordPress development versions from alpha to beta to RC-1 to RC-3, there were many changes to various files in the WP themes. At the last run WordFence has discovered more than 30 issues (changes to theme files).
This morning all these themes were also updated, together with some plug-ins. After the updates WordFence took the normal time to run because it only found a few issues such as with Akismet, UpdraftPlus and SI-Contact-Form, which have made file changes without changing the version number.
