[resolved] Wordfence - Optimum FIREWALL and LOGIN Settings (10 posts)

Wordfence is an awesome plugin, I believe the best security plugin out there...however, one area I always struggle with is the optimum settings for the FIREWALL and LOGIN sections. Everything else is straightforward but get these two areas wrong and you create problems for yourself.

I have scanned the net for tutorials and how other users set these two areas up but so far I can't find anything that discusses throttling values for humans or bots. Likewise it' hard to find anything definitive on login attempts, lockout durations, failure counts etc.

The LOGIN area is probably more of a personal preference and I can play with those settings without doing too much damage but the FIREWALL section is something I would like more clarification/advice/tutorials on.....anyone?

I too was just searching for that exact information! Some suggestions or help on throttling values would be great!

    Hi,

It's high time we put this together so I'll try to make this happen in the next week or two.

    Regards,

    Mark.

    Mark,

It's been 3 months. Do you have an answer or a Best Practice guide for settings?

    Mark,

Good point....I've been leaving things at default settings as all of my attempts to change settings have had some negative effects so I am not keen to experiment therefore your guide will prove valuable.

Despite the "resolved" mark on this thread, it doesn't appear to be resolved. I have exactly the same questions. If there's a guide now, please point to it.
