Wordfence alerting on file changes in Trac

    Michael,

    I have the Wordfence security plugin installed, which compares files on my site against the WP repository and alerts on differences for the sake of security. Yesterday it alerted on WB2DB and after some investigation, it appears that there are new files in trac that correspond to the files that were in the alert.

    I wanted to post because others may also have received this alert. My question is: should these file changes have triggered an update of the plugin? I’m confused because the version number is still the same, even though the last change date is now April 18. Perhaps you were merely updating files ahead of a scheduled update. But I wanted you to be aware that it triggers an alert in Wordfence that, at first, seems alarming until you realize that some files have changed in the repository, and not on your own WP site.

    Gday,

    I disagree with how the these so called security plugins work. They will incorrectly tag WPB2D as a “security threat” when I push out of version updates to the plugin repository.

    I do this sometimes to push new translations make quick fixes that don’t really require a full version bump.

    You can safely disregard them.
