Yahoooooooooo, Mountain Dew!
Dang, I just showed my age there. You probably have no idea what that was! :)
Thanks for doing that, bud!
Craig.

Most of that function was from a post allusion made earlier in this thread. He deserves the majority of the credit!
Plurk, would you mind adding this over at the Wiki?
@MtDew,
I hear you on the credit to Matt, but my expression of glee was more about getting the Wiki updated. I just love to say "wiki." Wiki, wiki, wiki, wiki... :)
Craig.
You're very welcome! :-)
Now has it's own Wiki page...

I would like to install a function that I saw on Dunstan Orchard's site. Rather than showing the total posts for the entire blog, and the total words for the whole blog, I'd like to combine the < !--more-- > tag with the length of the actual post itself. This would only show up when I use the < !--more-- > or the < !--next page --> functions.
Dunstan's site does this:
Text here. Blah blah blah.
(more...) 1500 words.
Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.
@NuclearMoose:
I went ahead and wrote the hack that not only shows how many words are in the entire post, not just what is current on display. The script will also count how many total images are the post and display that count as well. If there are no images, it won't mention images at all. You can see it at work here: http://www.blindmuse.com/howto
I've written a how-to here: http://www.blindmuse.com/archives/2004/02/26/add-wordimage-counts-to-wp/
Chuckg,
Thank you, sir, for that! I'm going to have a look at that and give it a whirl.
Craig.
heh, out of curiousity, how did you figure the calories for typing a keystroke.. that seems awfully high :p
does this work with 1.3?
and what directory will the file be in becuase i can't find it :(
Searched the site:
http://blindmuse.com/blog/2004/05/24/addword-image-counts-to-wp-12/
It will work in 1.3 as long as you do not change the default display of "more..." and only works on posts with the more tag.
I'm sorry but where can I find the instructions for this hack? *feels stupid*
What problems are you having ?
