    Morning folks,

    Obviously this is an email issue as some of the emails are getting through to customers (ie therefore a problem with some customers email servers rejecting/labeling the emails as spam), but has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

    Thanks in advance!

    Can anyone advise me how WooCommerce sends out emails?

    Do they go direct from the website domain?

    If they do, then that is the reason why they are either being bounced by servers, or flagged as spam - because the SPF record TXT file says that only emails which are sent from the Gmail servers are allowed to send emails from my domain. ie; recipients server receives an email, checks the SPF record TXT file, determines that the email didn't come from where it should (ie the Gmail servers) and rejects it/flags it as spam.

    So, either;

    1) I add the domain details to the SPF record TXT file and upload it to both the domain (A) and the Gmail servers (B). The idea being that the SPF record TXT file says that both A & B are allowed to send emails from that domain address, or;
    2) I change how WooCommerce sends emails so that they are sent directly from the Gmail servers. (I'm not sure if this is possible!).

    So can anyone answer part 1 of this question?

    Thanks in advance!

    Chris

  3. Can anyone advise me how WooCommerce sends out emails?

    I haven't looked at the code but I'm reasonably sure it sends e-mail out via wp_mail.

    I don't think modifying or even having SPF records will fix it for you. SMTP mail gateways bounce mail from sources that they do not like and your web server may be considered one of those.

    Try installing a SMTP plugin such as http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smtp/ and ask your host provider what SMTP gateway and settings you should use.

    That way your installation will use a "good" mail relay and perhaps your WooCommerce mail will get delivered (accepted) by those other mail systems.

    +1 for http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smtp/

    We've seen this plugin solve a lot of problems people are having with email + WooCommerce.

    Thanks guys, it seems to work a treat! Emails from WooCommerce now arrive in the inbox, not the spam file.

    Happy Days!
