WooCommerce Multilingual - run WooCommerce with WPML

    Hello,
I have installed the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin for a website using WooCommerce 2.0.3 and it doesn't seem to be possible to set it up to use a different slug for the shop pages. The slug definition was removed from the Pages section in the settings and replaced with its own permalink structure definition on the main permalink settings page.

Maybe a solution could be to add a custom rewrite tag, something like %woocommerce_catalog_name%, which would be replaced with the correct slug for the selected language and could be used in the permalink structure definition.

Another problem I'm experiencing, is that when adding the same product to the cart in different languages the products are added as separate entries. I don't know if this is normal behaviour but I do believe that in the back-end, on the order overview the products should be displayed in their default language but they are not.

Will there be an update to support WooCommerce 2.x

    Regards,
    Paul.

    Dear Paul,

We have just released the last version for WooCommerce 1.x and start working on 2.x.
Keep an eye on http://wpml.org/blog/ to see the announcement.

About your problem with the shop prefix its one of the first issues in the list.

The cart behaviour is expected. Total sales and stock are sync'd between translations so that this figure is meaningful.

    Regards,
    David

Thank you both for your replies.

I've updated the plugin and if I'm correct I should then set the permalink structure for products to default and use slug translation to create a different slug for each language.

I noticed a small problem with this: it is not possible to add a translation for the default language. This wouldn't be a problem if the default language would be English (neither for my native language since product is the same in Dutch) but for many other languages, e.g. French or German, this would be a problem.

It also causes a problem if you wouldn't want to use "product" as the slug at all but something like "shop" instead. It would be possible to add a completely different slug for each additional language but the default language would always default to "product".

The default WPML language and the default language for strings are two different settings. Even if the default language is not English, you will normally set the strings language to english because plugins/theme have strings in english.

To see this setting, goto to String Translation and scroll down.

It does cause a problem if you dont want the product slug, but we are working on having this fixed for next release.

It makes sense to have English as the string language but I guess that would also require to always have English as one of the supported languages in the WPML configuration.

    No, its a separate configuration.
