• A giant thank you in advance to anybody that can help me here…

My site works fine in Firefox, Chrome etc… But not in IE.

The rest of the site works in IE, but the wordpress part on the main page isn’t working.

If anyone has any ideas on this please help me out, it’s annoying the hell out of me, and stopping 35% of my visitors from seeing anything.

    Cheers,

    Jimi

  • You have some major code errors like two closing body tags and incorrect meta tags. Browsers can react differently to such errors.

Another thing to try is to temporarily disable all plugins and see if the problem goes away.

So after a bunch of reading, there’s a lot of “never copy and paste from word”. I think I may have just learned my lesson. But I’ve deleted the post that I did it with, then copy and pasted the content back from notepad, and my original problem still remains?
Do you think that that was the problem?
Or is it something completely different?

I disabled the plugins and checked. nothing different.
Thanks for checking out my “i don’t make websites” code.
I’ll try to clean it up and see if that works.

I looked for bad Word code (the typical reason that IE alone fails), but I didn’t find any. Look in the browser source code of the troublesome page for any code with mso in it.

I can see your menu in IE so after that line must be some mistake.
I have found one on this line
    <a href="http://www.theidiotinstitute.com/?feed=rss2" class="nav_rss" title="Our RSS Feed"><span class="hide">Our RSS Feed</ span></a><a href="http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=...

As you can see there is one big hole in </span> so delete the empty space. I don`t know if you have it in template or somewhere else so check it out. By the way there are some other fixes to do like delete one of the </body> and </div> at the end and close the <meta />
    tags…

Hi I have more or less a similar problem. It wont work in IE but in everything else it will.
I posted two posts from word onto my blog and maybe that messed it up. I have rectified this now but on my front page the categories and wordpress bit still wont show up. I am an intern on a project and dont have that much knowledgde- I think the problem might be quite simple. I urgently need to fix it. If anybody would be kind enough to take a quick look I would be extrmemly grateful.

No you haven’t rectified it if you look in firefox and view source you can see all the bad word code.
    These posts are affected.

Thank you so much for looking at the blog. I assume the way to rectify bad word code is to paste all the text into Notepad to get rid of any code. I have now done this but it still wont work. I actually have 16 posts that are available in firefox etc. and they show up in the dashboard when Im in IE but they wont show in the main page.

Hi if anybody has time, would you be able to check this site in IE. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get my plugins installed and I am reluctant to take them out until Im sure that there are no more problems with Word code.

Hi, if theres anyone with time right now could you take a look at my blog?

This post still has word code in it.

I am having an IE problem as well. My blog works fine in explorer and firefox (and has for several months) but after backing out an attempt at an upgrade to wordpress 2.6.3, I can’t get into my wp-admin in explorer, but I can in firefox. Ideas?

Jeremy my blog is now working in IE. You have absoultely no idea how long this has been a stressful problem. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
