Hi,
Can you give me a link to the site where you have problems with it?
Thanks,
Gabor
I have exactly the same problem (with pdf files) but I can’t give you a link, it’s on a private wordpress 3.4.2 site not connected to the internet !

Hi Gabor,
I am experiencing same problem as prydey with a pdf file. See http://www.mensard.com – download button half way down home page. Toggling the plug-in solves problem briefly. Mouse right click gives options which does then allow link to open. I am using 3.5 wordpress and plugin v2.0.2
Thx,
Ben
I have the same problem, under WordPress 3.5.1 with Electric Studio Download Counter 2.0.2 it doesn’t count any download anymore and it doesn’t allow me to download local PDF files anymore (nothing happens if clicking on it).
Thanks in advance for fixing this.
Dennis
Some more information…
The problem exists for me when I view my website using Chrome or Safari (Mac/ipad). However when using IE the pop-up blocker (IE or anti-virus?) queries, and if I allow, then allows the download to proceed.
As with other reports, with the plug-in disabled there are no problems.
Upgrading WP to v3.5.1 hasn’t solved.
Thanks,
Ben

I’m having the same issues with the counter. Has there been any updates to correct this?
Well… since plugin author seems don’t care about this, I’ve figured out a poor solution:
– On electric-studio-download-counter.php, line 617, change
‘/js/esdc-ck.js’ to ‘/js/esdc.js’
– On esdc.js change line 22 from e.preventDefault(); to //e.preventDefault();
This can be bad because this way turns on link following… but I can’t figure out any other way for now.
Well… just to appologize… plugin author is answering on his blog:
Hi,I’m using the latest version of this plugin with latest version of wordpress. There are 2 domains that point to my site,on first, plugin works fine,on the secodd I can’t download a exe setup file,accessing the same links.Disabling the plugin download works.
Now I’ve disabled it.How to fix that?
Thanks.
Hi,I put a console log before $(selector).click as this:
console.log(selector);
$(selector).click( function( e ) {
e.preventDefault();
.........
on first domain there I got exe link but on the second domain I got:
XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://www.domain1.info/wordpress/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?
action=esdc_addtocount&filename=mysetup.exe&cnonce=36d26a19c2.
Origin http://domain2.info is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.
Hello, you need to use a normal “a href” link, it won;t work when using any JS functions.
Hi,I use normal links,the code above it is in your source code esdc.js
Link is put on a normal menu
Thanks
