[resolved] Wondering if anybody make WordPress 3.4.1 work on it's own Directory? (3 posts)

    I mean the instructions at

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

    I have installed WordPress in a subdirectory called "wordpress"

    1. Changed the site home and url settings to root domain:

    http://my-domain.com/wordpress

    to

    http://my-domain.com

    2. Copied the index.php file to the root, editing code changing it from:

    require('./wp-blog-header.php');

    to

    require('./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php');

    3. Copied the .htaccess file to the root, then changed from:

    RewriteBase /wp/

    to

    RewriteBase /

    and also

    RewriteRule . /wp/index.php [L]

    to

    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    Although WordPress front page and blog pages did load, it's not loading the default theme style.css file location correctly, and was not able to log into Admin Panel, although the log in screen did load.

    Thanks!

    That's because you didn't follow the directions correctly.

    1. WordPress address should be http://my-domain.com/wordpress while site URL is http://my-domain.com. They should be different. See steps 3 and 4 on the codex page.

    Yes, you are right! Only had to change the Site URL, not the WordPress URL. Maybe it's because I was running SQL to change the option values directly, where the file name "siteurl" is WordPress Address URL and the Site Address URL is actually called "home" and overlooked it.

    Thanks!
