   I've never seen this error before:

   Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wordpress-importer.0.5.zip…

   Download failed. Failed writing body (1477 != 5840)

   It happened while trying to install the WordPress importer. sing the back end to fetch the above zip file. When I downloaded the zip from wordpress.org and then used WordPress's back end to upload and install I go a different error. says I couldn't upload the file. I tried CHMODing the folder to 777 to no avail/

   I'm on hostdime, I am able to install other plugins and themes fine.

   Asked and answered!

   The problem was that when I set up the hosting account for this account I didn't give my self enough disc space. duh!
   so i left the question here so that other who have may learn from my mistake.
