Hi all,
I just got myself a linux server + WP2.6. I followed the 5 minute setup and everything is working fine except when I tried to use Windows Live Writer to connect to my server it kept saying
E/M : Blog Server Error - Server Error 405 Occurred
XML-RPC services are disabled on this blog. An admin user can enable them at http://xxxxx.org/wp-admin/options-writing.php.
You must correct this error before proceeding.
Hmm weird thing is that I have already given the file permission 666 to allow full control!?!?
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Hi there, yes, in 2.6 you need to go to settings, then writing and check the box for xml rpc to turn this function on.

Thank you for your reply. Your solution worked like a charm. Two other problems tho
1) it can't download the template but i can live with that
2) When I attempted to post to my server it says Network COnnection error - error attempting to connect to weblog at:
https://xxxxxx.org/xmlrpc.php
The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS Secure Channel.
Sorry bout all the questions ... very new to this.
Why are you using https instead of plain http? Using https means more setup on your site's end, probably setup that you have not done. You need a certificate, get it signed, etc. HTTPS is not free, basically.

hmmm How can i switch to http? Is this most likely a server-side configuration or the software? I will poke around the software and see what i can find...
