• Just checking to see if anyone has successfully installed and is running version 2.5.1 on a windows (2008) server with Plesk and IIS 7, along with PHP 5.x, particularly using any other permalink option besides the “ugly” ones. I have successfully performed a new 2.5.1 install (ray.cardwelltest.com), but only the ugly permalinks work. I have tried to migrate a 2.3 install (alseariverrvpark.com), that was using the date-and-name based permalinks (with /index.php embedded in the URL), and it gives me a 404 right up front. I tried to install the IIS mod-rewrite software (http://www.micronovae.com/ModRewrite/ModRewrite.html) to resolve the URL rewriting issues, but after lengthly troubleshooting with their developers, they claim that Plesk is the cause of this module not functioning properly. So, back to “square 1”. I know that plesk makes use of apache on windows for some of its own functions, and I know that WP relies on apache’s URL rewriting capabilities as well. I wonder if one could do a per-URL configuration to use apache instead of IIS for WP sites? I guess I’m trying to establish if WP is just not compatible with this windows server platform/configuration, or if there’s anyone out there who has successfully tackled this.
