   There are plenty of posts on the internet, where people are trying to tweak WordPress to provide a static homepage. None seem totally satisfactory.

   Q. Will WordPress listen to all that online feedback, and add this feature to the core code?

   2.1 will have that feature. Expected delivery is next week MAYBE!

   ... and there are (at least) 3 solid plugins that do it right now. Along with a page right here in the codex: Creating_a_Static_Front_Page
