mPress Custom Feed Excerpts
Will this plugin cut the posts with "Read more..." link ONLY on RSS Feed? (6 posts)

    I know that the <-more--> thingy cuts even the WordPress's posts on the homepage.

    I want it to cut the RSS posts with a "read more..." link. Only on the RSS Feed.

    Another question, will this work with example.com/atom or only /feed?

    Because I'm having TONS of issues with /feed and it's been years of searching to fix it and I just couldn't. I use the /atom now.

    @Kaleyko,

    I have previously proposed creating a <!--feed--> tag that would only affect the feeds (of any kind). I never implemented it because it seemed that everyone was quite happy with just using the <!--more--> tag.

    It may take me a little while to get around to it, but I'm adding it to my list of things to do. You will also be able to customize the anchor text using the feed tag like you can with the more tag (e.g. <!--feed Learn more...--> ).

    AWESOME!

    Here is what I want, simply:

    1. Cut the posts on RSS Feed, only.
    2. Control after how many lines should the plugin cut the post.
    3. The ability to edit the name of the link "Read more..." on the posts on the RSS Feed, only.

    Could I do that with the current version of the plugin?

    @Kaleyko,

    The current version of the plugin will do all of the above, except number one. Once I implement the <!--feed--> tag, it should do exactly what you want.

    Cool. Can't wait for the upcoming update.

    However, how can I edit the "Read more..." link text? (Will it pull the default text of <--more--> link of my theme or uses a default one from the plugin itself, so I need to change?)

    Plugin is installed. I will active it once I know how to edit the "Read more..." link text.

    Thank you for your time, Micah, I really do appreciate good support.

    @Kaleyko,

    To customize the link text, you just need to alter the more tag from this:

    <!--more-->

    To this:

    <!--more Read more...-->

    Where "Read more..." is whatever custom text you want to use.
