Will changing the primary domain change image and page link paths? (6 posts)

In WPMU, if we change the primary domain in Tools>>Domain Mapping, will this automatically update image and page link paths on all pages and posts?

For example, when a site is in production an image path is like:

    http://perview.dev-domain.com/files/image.jpg

When we set the site to go live on a real domain, with the above image path change to say:

    http://www.real-doamin.com/files/image.jpg

    Steve

  2. It won't change the exisitng images and links, no.

Just so I'm really clear Mika. Even after the primary domain is changed in domain mapping, links and images will continue to use:

    http://perview.dev-domain.com/...

    Based my example.

  4. You can't map the primary domain, just FYI.

If I build out tech.ipstenu.org and map that so it's halfelf.org, any and all images I uploaded as tech.ipstenu.org/files/2012/foo.jpg stay as that URL.

    Thanks Mika

So, when the primary domain is changed, image paths will not change but links to internal pages will?

    Steve

  6. No, the links don't change.

Any autogenerated menus (like if you put a menu item of 'About page') will adjust, but not actual, hard coded links. Again, gotta search and replace.

Now they should still WORK, since the old URL is still valid, but they'll redirect :)
