I'm not very familiar with what a wiki is. But what I do need is a way to let the general unregistered public or just registered users of my wordpress site create/edit pages right from the page itself. Not the weblog though, just the pages. I would also like a way to discuss that page. Similar to how people can comment on a weblog entry.

I've tried mediawiki and it's far to confusing. My visitors would never take the time to learn to use it.
So every page created needs to have a edit button and there needs to be a general button on the site that says "Create a new page". Simple but effective.

Does something like this already exist for wordpress or could it be done?

have a look at dokuwiki ?

It's much much easier than mediawiki to learn and alter the css, but then it's not as powerful.

Yeah I already instlaled that one. Don't like it either. It doesn't have any sort of admin control panel and to create a new page you have to edit the URL. My visitors won't go for that. They need simple/stupid.
