[resolved] Widgets span 2 columns? (6 posts)

First of all, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I tried!

My question is: Is there a way to get a widget to span across 2 sidebars? My setup is that I have 2 sidebars next to each other, and I want the first widget to span across both sidebars, with the rest of the widgets remaining in the same place. Is this possible?

Also, I was wondering how you would go about changing the background color of a widget.

Sorry if this sounds novice, but I am just starting out with WP and I don't think I've quite got the hang of it yet.

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

No. Unless you have a "container sidebar" as wide as the two others, register that one for widgets, too, and you place your widgets practically in 3 different locations: wide sidebar, sidebar1 and sidebar2.

Any styling is done via the CSS file: every widget has its own class, check your source code.

Thank you very much for your prompt response! I'm glad I asked, otherwise I would still be trying to do it.

    Thanks again!

Well, it can be done - I have it on my blog: click on my name and click a post title to go on a single post view. Scroll down and see for example the Recent posts in same category and the G. ad. That portion of the sidebar is "wide". After that I have again "divided" sidebar.

My problem is that I'm not sure how to make a container sidebar, or how to make it "wide" without doing it to the other portions of the sidebar as well. Is there any way you could provide me with an example code?

Nevermind, I managed to figure this one out. It's definitely different than I expected, but it works.
