Widgets link missing from appearance menu

    I made a custom theme from scratch and it’s clearly the reason why there is no widgets link. That’s not the only, but at the moment I need the categories widget.

    When making a theme is there some file(s) that is required to show the widgets menu? I found a function that brings the menu-menu to appearance …menu so do I have to add something to functions.php?
