widgets and buttons not working in admin area

    Hello

    I am not able to drag widgets to the side bar, various buttons do not do anything, such as I am not able to switch to visual editing of entries and the “screen options” button does nothing amongst other things.

    I have tried deactivating all my plug ins. I have reinstalled both manually and also with “Fantastico” I have had this problem with various builds back to 2.8.4.

    I have two blogs on my server, in two different databases. And my server has looked into this and cannot see any problems their side. I did have problems with rogue pages being added to my main site, I forget the term and so changed the permissions for the wp folders to 755.

    Both blogs them selves work fine but editing them has become difficult through these issues.

    Does anyone have a solution to this? I have hunted all over and have found numerous similar problems but no firm solutions.

    Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Yeah I have switched to the default theme, and I have reset the plugins and am having the problems still.

    The whole functionality of the admin area is not working apart from normal html buttons, I am really flummoxed by this!
