Sorry, this is a basic question, but where are the instructions for using your widgets???? Eg. Your Search Photos requires a page to be defined...where is the info for this?

Hi, I have worked out the above and can see what to do now! Not sure how to delete the query!

I do have another - I want to be able to use the IPTC keywords on my images in your Search facility (Search Photos). I have looked at some of your script but I don't understand enough to work out how to do this. I presume that I need to a) import the keywords and then b) write them into a field that is searchable. It is the second part that I can't do. Is there a simple script that I can use and where would I put it?

Many thanks for a superb product!

Actually, I have no idea how you set up the search! You have to specify a page for the results, but then that page appears on the menu - with nothing in it etc. Do you have a detailed description of how to set up search as it appears on your test site, please?

Please read this documentation page: the Do's.

You can remove the page from the menu using the menu editor on the dashboard under Appearance.

You can search on the exif and iptc items that appear in the photo description only. The 'standard' photo description uses a few like:

    Example:

    Date Time	2011:12:24 06:58:59
    Camera	Canon EOS 20D
    Focal length	400 mm.
    F-Stop	f/14
    ISO Speed Rating	400
    Exposure program	Aperture-priority AE
    Metering mode	Multi-segment
    Flash	Off, Did not fire

You can change the standard in Table IX-B4: New phot desc.

You can also update existing photos with this description. On the Edit Album Information admin screen.

Excellent, many thanks! I have now read that doc and it makes a good deal more sense. There are just two things that I need to do -

    1) I would really like to be able to write some of my IPTC fields into your image fields. Basically IPTC Title = your image Title, IPTC Description = your image Description.
    2) Then just that search ability to use the IPTC Keywords field on the images. I am not very good at coding, so I might need a suggested syntax!

I think these two items would be great to put into the wish list because if anyone does what I do, and have all their image data written into these IPTC fields, then it saves a great deal of time to import them. I think it's pretty much what Flickr does at the moment.

    Many thanks

See Photo albums -> Settings admin page Table X and XI for a list of IPTC and EXIF values that have ever been seen in your uploaded photos.

If you enter 2#005 in the photo description it will be automaticly translated into the Graphic name, 2#080 into the photographers name, E#829D into the Fnumber etc. No big deal, make your own (standard) description text using these codes as 'shortcodes' for iptc and exif values and put your (standard) into Table IX-B4.

Forget the photo name field (leave as it is: the original filename), switch the displays of ( e.g. Table II-B5 ) and put whatever you want in the description field. This field will be examined during search, also on iptc and exif values.

    Example?:

Go to http://wppa.opajaap.nl/ and enter Canon EOS in the Search WPPA+ photos widget. You will find 8 photos with Canon EOS in the description (is exif data but works also for iptc)

Thanks for that. Just to finish this up ...I have a few images uploaded, so then I went to Table X and XI and displayed all the fields so I could see what codes attached to what. Then I went back and displayed just the ones I wanted. I then went to IXB4 and just typed in the code for the field that I wanted displayed and used some of your code from here http://wppa.opajaap.nl/iptc-and-exif-data/ to bring in my IPTC keywords into the description but to hide them. So now search works perfectly!

Just thought I should explain that for others who might come along. Hope it helps.
