Widget & Sidebar

I love wordpress. I want to convert my site to it from my joomla.
I am confusing. How to assign different widget in different wordpress layout. Like i have:

Left-Colum – Middle-Colum – Right-Colum

I want Widget on – left colum and right colum or even in middle colum
