When I try to use IE browser (currently ver. 9) to open and edit widgets (in Widgets panel) only the top 5 will do so. The rest won’t open. I have no problem with Firefox.
However, when I try to manage widgets in my local copy of the same site, I have no problem with either browser. I saw a post about adding the JSON PHP script to my web host but that is not offered with my web hosting service.

Anyone out there with a solution (not affecting the web server)?

    Thank you!

  • Could you try installing the Hotfix plug-in?

    Hi zoonini

Thank you for that idea. I installed the plugin, but it didn’t fix the problem. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that my WP is version 3.2.1 and not 3.3?

Ah, sorry – I didn’t notice that you were still running 3.2.1 as most of the posts these days are related to 3.3 upgrade issues.

    – What changes to your installation have you made prior to this problem cropping up? Undo them and see if the problem goes away.
    – Have you tried deactivating all your plug-ins and then reactivating them one by one to find the culprit?
    – Have you tried resetting the plug-ins folder?
    – Have you tried switching to a default them temporarily (Twenty Ten or Twenty Eleven) to see if the problem disappears? (Note that you might lose some custom theme settings when you return to your original theme, such as menus, widgets, headers, etc.)

    Zoonie,

I got I.E. to work with Widgets again. Thanks for the advice. Here’s what I did:

I loaded a duplicate (test) copy of the web (from local host) to a folder on my server (testweb). However, this version had no shortcut site address in the root like the actual one (meaning that to view this site, you have to go to http://www.website.com/testweb as opposed to http://www.website.com). I went into the Widgets section of this test site and had no problems at all with I.E. browser. So, I then went back to the actual website and deactivated all of the plugins per your suggestion. I then re-activated them one at a time, replacing any Widget content that may have moved back into the “Inactive Widgets” column.

    And, now it works.

Glad you fixed it and thanks for reporting back!

    Hi Zoonie,

Well, the IE browser problem has returned. This time deactivating and reactivating all the plugins (one at a time) did not cure the problem. The return of this problem happened after upgrading to WP 3.3.1. Have you heard of any solutions to this? Otherwise, I’ll have to simply not work with IE, which could be an issue with my client.

    Thanks,
