widget font not obeying–why is it black?

No where in my stylesheet is black or 000 listed, nor in the “Tigarator” (options panel for my theme), but the text in my widgets is black (unless it is a link, I got those to change).
The default text color is 898989 and I’ve tried adding a different font-color to several places in my stylesheet to no avail.
What is wrong?
