• Hi there. I have the event widget installed and mostly doing what I want, but I want to display this same info outside of the sidebar.

Is there a way I can call the widget from within a template file rather than the drag & drop into the sidebar?

Also, how can I display just the first X characters of the event description?

    Thanks.

Oh I should ad, also, how can I choose to display only the most recent X events for the widget display?

    Hi vanachte,

As mentioned in our sticky thread (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/welcome-the-events-calendar-users-read-this-first), we unfortunately are unable to help with with customization, styling or integration issues not caused by bugs with The Events Calendar. You have a few options:

    1. Check out our extensive support resources and try to figure it out on your own: https://tri.be/support/ & http://tri.be/support/forums
    2. Hire a developer to assist you. We’ve got a list of freelancers who know our code and who we can vouch for. Email us (pro at tri.be) and we’ll pass that list your way.
    3. Purchase a Pro license to get more support: http://tri.be/shop/wordpress-events-calendar-pro/. As mentioned in the sticky thread, we can provide both a deeper and more frequent level of support for PRO users.

I hope that helps and good luck!

    Cheers,

Hi Jonah, thanks for youre reply, even if it didnt really help.

I wanted to take a second to reply with some useful info. If the following was part of the PRO version, I would purchase PRO immediately.

I am sure this can be done with the current system, but as I am on a little to no budget, hiring a programmer is just not an option.

If there was a feature that allowed me to set a specific feed that would spit out exactly what I wanted from the event calendar, and then embed that info via shortcodes, purchasing would be a no brainer.

Perhaps offer a screen in admin where you can create custom feeds. Selecting the categories, date ranges, venues, etc, along with checkboxes to select what information should be displayed in the feed. Also offering custom css info and pre-set defaults to choose from.

Then the user could simply embed the feed via something like [easy-calendar feed=mycustomfeed1] or something painfully simple as that.

It would make this an amazing solution for the non-programmers like me.

If it were that easy to do this sort of thing, a feature that is totally programmatically possible) I would without a doubt fork over the $$ for he pro version in a second.

    Hi vanachte,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately we do not have a feature like this available and I cannot say when or if it will ever be added. The only thing I can offer is for you to add it as a feature request on our UserVoice page where we monitor demand for new features like this: http://tribe.uservoice.com/

Sorry I cannot offer up more here. Good luck with your project!
