Widget Configure Issue with Firefox (13 posts)

I am running into an issue when trying to configure widgets using Firefox 1.5.0.2

When clicking on the configure icon, the configure box pops up, but is completely greyed out. When attempting to click on it, the box disappears and the configure screen goes away.

When tested in IE6 this does not happen. I am able to configure a widget, with the background greyed out.

Any help on how to get this to work with Firefox 1.5.0.2 is greatly appreciated.

I have fixed this issue by disabling the Tiger Admin plugin for the WP administrative interface.

Interesting. I'm having this same problem, and I was about to write about it. However, I don't have the Tiger Admin plugin.

My Firefox version is 1.5.0.3 (Mac). I haven't tried it in IE, but it does work in Safari.

Does anyone have any more insights on why this happens in Firefox? I don't have the Tiger Admin plugin, but I still get the greyed-out boxes when using Firefox.

I've also run into this issue with Firefox 1.5.0.3. The widget configuration used to work for me when I initially installed it, but hasn't been working (the greyed-out problem) over the last few days. I'm not sure what changes I've made to my system apart from installing Sun Java VM.

A workaround is to use <TAB> to get the focus into the configuration box - it takes a dozen or so tab presses to get there but if the mouse doesn't work (in that it just cancels the config box) then I guess this is one way to do it.

Hopefully someone will work out a more elegant solution.

    Try clearing your browser cache.

Clearing the browser cache doesn't work. Any other ideas anyone?

Actually it might be the fault of an older PHP version installed on the server where the WordPress-powered blog is hosted. WordPress.com widget configuration works fine for me with Firefox 1.5.0.3, while widget configuration on my server does not. Although I have no idea about PHP, so maybe I've got it all wrong.

In my case the widgets configuration was working in Opera and in IE, the only problem was Firefox. What I did was disable all the plugings less the widget one, and BINGO it worked!!!, then start reenabling each plugin one by one checking the widgets configuration panels for each one and then I found at least my problem, the Photopress plugin!!, I'm prety sure is not the plugin it self but some library used by it with conflicts with the widget plugin. Hope this help..

Thanks for that ovlion, I tried deactivating the Photopress v0.9.4 plugin and the configuration worked fine as well. Must be some sort of conflict, like you say. Let's hope the authors of Photopress can fix it up as that is a great plug-in to use too!

I found that it was the "sociable" plugin that rendered me unable to configure my widgets. Although, unlike the people in this room, the pop-ups didn't apprear greyed out, they didn't appear at all.. Hope fully issues like this can be resolved as a I am plugin and widget addict.

I had this problem and the plugin that was breaking the configuration button turned out to be "Now Reading". I downloaded the latest version of that plugin, and now it's working fine.
