• After updating to the latest version of WordPress, I can no longer access any option on my widget admin page. This includes dragging and dropping a widget to a sidebar to activate and vice versa, as well as getting active widgets to open so I can alter them. It also does not allow the drop down to work on the page options, like “screen options” and “help”.

Widgets appear on my live page and seem to function normally.

I have tried deactivating plugins, but so far have not found a culprit. (And it seems strange that a plugin would affect the WordPress admin page itself with the screen options and help buttons not working).

Thanks for any ideas you may have!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

First clear local browser cache. Then note that widgets interface with a theme. Ask theme provider this. To test, switch to default unedited theme with all plugins deactivated. If same issue, perform a manual install of WP. Test again.
