widen text area with less right and left margin space

    Hello. I am trying to widen the text area on my blog, but I am totally lost as to where to go. I think I need to go to “Appearance” then “Editor” but where to go from there I have no clue. There is too much space in the left and right margins and I would like there to be less space in the margins and more text per line. I hope that make sense. Please help!

    Looks like you are directly modifying the twentyten theme, which is a bad idea

    Someone has definitely already altered that theme to make it narrow it looks like. So I cannot guarantee this advice will work, as it’s based on the default untouched 2010 theme, but see if anything here helps you

    I have a couple questions: 1.) If I change themes will it totally screw up what I have done? Yes I am aware it is screwed up, but will it make it worse where I’ll have to start over from scratch? 2.) Could you give me any advice on what theme(s) to change too?

    1) change themes from what to what? If you change from your modified twentyten to something else, and back, nothing will get changed in your theme files. So any edits you have made won’t be lost. It’s only when upgrading the twentyten theme that any changes to that theme would be lost

    Some of your settings may get lost. If you have a custom menu, it may get unassigned, you would just have to tell WP to use your menu again. Your widgets may need to be put back in place.

    I would need to know exactly what you are worried about changing to be able to answer better.

    2) There are many many themes, so hard to provide recommendations, as it all depends on exctly what you are looking for. You can test themes out without losing any of your content (Posts, images, etc).

    Thanks for your response. I am considering a different theme. It’s something I have been considering for sometime anyway. When I change will I loss my plugins? I am aware I may have to reconstruct some things.

    NO, your plugins stay active, your main settings, your content, etc. ALl of that stuff stays the same.

    You just might need to re-add your widgets, re-set a menu if applicable, etc. Just display stuff.

    Hi,
    What theme would you suggest for a wide page. I’ve tried Coraline 1.1 but no matter what page pattern I chose I still do not have a full-width-template. Can you pls suggest a solution for that?
