[resolved] Why would WordPress want me to reinstall? (5 posts)

I've had WordPress running on my site for a few weeks, and when I visited my URL today, it takes me to wp-admin/install.php, like it wants to install WordPress again.

Any idea where my problem lies? Should I reinstall it? If so, what files should I pull off my server so that all my stuff isn't gone...or is it too late?

    Thanks.

everything is stored in the database so if you have a back up (everyone backs up...right?) no worries.

Usually when this happens it means the wp_options table has crashed in the database. Run a repair on it with host's phpmyadmin.

wow - have you asked your host what's up? and ask them for a recent back up?

They finally got back to me.

"I have restored your database and your wordpress installation is now working correctly.
    I apologize for the downtime."

Not much of an explanation, but it works again, so that's really all that matters to me. Thanks for steering me in the right direction samboll.
