   I made a wrapper for everything except the footer, so shouldn't the footer fill in under the wrapper? The text 'some text' is in the footer html file. Any ideas?

   Site is timing out.

   Did you 'clear' the footer ?

   Though it might be even easier to add overflow:auto or overflow:hidden to the style rules for your wrapper.

   I've tried both things, and neither of them work. Also, the site is not timing out anymore, sorry about that. Have a look and see if you have any ideas.
