Im wondering if I should just get a new domain and hosting and start fresh and just transfer all content and stuff over to the new theme under a new domain. Then forward my old domain to the new one.
I just don’t want all of my SEO to go to loss.
How do you guys recommend going about this?
Re-upload a fresh, unpacked, copy of the Twenty Eleven folder to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/twentyeleven
And switch to another theme.
Thank you so much esmi. Will do. 🙂
So, when I switch to the new theme. Do I need to make that a child theme also?
Not unless you need to customise the theme.
So, let me run this by you really quick so that I know I am doing it right..
Re-Upload Twenty Eleven and overwrite the current one I have? From there there the theme should show up like it does in the demo?
– Since I have a static page, do I need to take that off inorder to get the theme to work since the theme already seems to have a static page with a slider and stuff?
This part really confuses me because where will all my graphics and writing I have on the front page of Twenty eleven go?

if you are referring to the Twenty eleven theme’s demo, then yes. I can;t really comment on the Reaction Skeleton theme as that’s via a 3rd party provider.

With Twenty Eleven, no. With Reaction Skeleton, see above.
Okay cool. So, when I overwrite the version of Twenty Eleven that I have, will I loose my uploads, pages and blog posts?
Sorry if Im asking too many questions. I just want to be able to start off fresh without loosing my pages and stuff.
When I say start off fresh, I mean the Twenty Eleven, back to the basics, “hello world” stuff.
As long as I still have my pages and blog posts Im fine.
will I loose my uploads, pages and blog posts?
No. These are stored in your database – not in your theme.
Okay great! I think I got it now!
