    I have two nearly identical sites (same content, same theme, WP version 3.0.4) but one of the sites is taking an excessively long time to load. Also when I open the theme options panel in my wp-admin Dashboard it crashes my Firefox browser.

    I ran http://www.iwebtool.com/speed_test to compare the results of the two sites. Here are the results:

    # Domain name Size Load Time Average Speed per KB
    2. http://www.lauraupcott.com 2061.21 KB 5.5 seconds 0 seconds
    4. http://www.myelbowspace.com 13.57 KB 29.4 seconds 2.17 seconds

    Both sites have nearly identical content so why is the site size of lauraupcot.com 10x larger? 2061.21 KB on lauraupcott.com vs Myelbowspace.com at 13.57 KB.

    The only difference that I know of is that I installed the myeasybackup plugin on lauraupcott.com. I have since deactivated and uninstalled myeasybackup. I use BackupBuddy on myelbowspace.com.

    Does anyone have any ideas about how I can fix lauraupcott.com so that it will stop crashing my browser and load in a reasonalble time?

  • have you viewed the source code being output for your site? Just from the browser….. just click view->source in IE, something similar in FF

    anyway, you have a serious issue right at the start here:

    <!-- ** META TAGS ** -->

    <meta name="description" content="This is a demo site created with WordPress, the BlueBubble Theme and the course \\\\

    what is inserting the meta?

    see those trailing slashes? There are approximately a million of them! Literally. Find the source of that and it may help you a lot!

    Rev. Voodo, Thank you for looking at the source code and noticing the million ////’s. You’re right. I have to figure out the cause of that. I will contact the theme developer to see if he has any idea what caused this.

    This is really helpful. Thanks!

    Rev. Voodo, thanks so much for solving the problem! I just want to confirm that the issue had nothing to do with the back up plugin MyEasyBackup. It is a problem with the theme and I will contact the theme developer to let him know.

    I’m glad you were able to track down the problem!
