[resolved] Why is my logo blurry? (10 posts)

    Hi there,

    I have a logo that I use on this site and another wp blog, as well as in other places on the web. For some reason the logo looks blurred / not crisp *on this site only*. Please can you advise on what might be causing this issue? I don't believe there to be coding currently affecting the display of the logo.

    Thanks

    did anyone have any ideas on this? To be clear, the exact same file is uploaded here http://blog.rachellucie.co.uk as here http://gallery.rachellucie.co.uk but the gallery one looks fuzzy.

    Thanks :)

    The actual image here:

    looks pretty blurry and it says it's been cropped - so you might try uploading a version of the image that's already the size to be used on the site.

    Good point, I had got confused and did have 2 versions loaded. However, I have now taken the one from blog and uploaded that to the spun theme on the gallery. link and it does still look blurrier on the spun theme than the other wordpress theme I use.

    so compare:

    with
    http://gallery.rachellucie.co.uk

    It is now definitely the same file - and it does definitely look less crisp.

    Any ideas?

    The one on the site is a different size - if it's getting resized bigger, that tends to increase bluriness.

    It's also not the same image - at least the file path and name are not the same.

    I have now definitely got the same file showing! it will show a different database, because the blogs are hosting on different directories.

    I think it is a resizing issue relating to a post I contributed in here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/make-header-larger?replies=8

    The problem would appear to still stand - spun is somehow resizing my native logo which is 280px x 47px to be 300px x 50px. So as you suggested, this is the cause of the blurring.

    Have you a solution to this? Thanks for you patience with me so far @wpyogi!

    I've created the following functions.php in the child-theme:

    <?php
    /**
     * Change default custom header size
     */
    function spun_custom_header_args( $args ) {

    	$args = array(
    		'width'   => 280,
    		'height'  => 47,
    	);
    	return $args;
    }
    add_filter( 'spun_custom_header_args', 'spun_custom_header_args', 999 );

    ?>

    Those sizes correspond directly to the size of my logo. No change. Any ideas?

    Don't forget that WP only crop image once with the setting read upon upload. So any changes in function will not take effect on pre-existing image. After we change something in image setting, delete the image and reupload.

    When done right, I mean if that filter works and image is deleted and reupload skipping the crop, the final header image file name will NOT have the cropped- prefix.

    perfect, thank you!

    I didn't realise I needed to actually remove it totally. So I deleted it from my media library, and reuploaded - now all is fine :)
