If you take a look at this page in my site http://alliancebjjnyc.com/store/products/ you will see that it is cropping my featured image. But if you look on the main part of my site is does not crop the featured image. Why is that?

Probably to do with aspect ratio. The main pics can have any aspect ratio, but the thumbnails are a fixed size.

If you have a long thin image and your thumbnails are set to be a fixed size with a 1:1 aspect ratio (ie a square), the only way to get the thumbnail is to top & tail it.

    OK, lets try again:

The reason this happens is because the original version of the image is not the same shape as the smaller (automatically generated) version needs to be.

If the smaller version (also called the featured image or the thumbnail) is set to be a square at 150 x 150 pixels. This means that whatever size image is uploaded, a corresponding thumbnail image will always be created at 150x150. If the image you upload is not a square, it will crop the image to a square.

Start by unticking "Crop to exact dimensions" in Settings ->Media.
